Trailer/Featurette For Steven Spielberg's Alien Invasion Series 'Falling Skies'
Terra Nova may be suffering setback after setback, but the other new Steven Spielberg-produced sci-fi series, Falling Skies, looks to be right on track. The alien invasion TNT show is slated for a two-hour premiere on Sunday, June 19 at 9/8c, and the network has steadily been releasing promos over the last few months. The latest one is a trailer/featurette that includes brief clips of stars Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, and Drew Roy discussing the show. Watch it after the jump.

From what we've seen of the series so far, I'd say that the problem with Falling Skies isn't so much that it looks bad — I think it looks fine — but that it looks so very familiar. Falling Skies looks awfully similar to alien movies like War of the Worlds and District 9. And at least in this promo, Falling Skies also reminds me strongly of AMC's The Walking Dead — another current series about a ragtag group of survivors trying to fend off inhuman baddies and rebuild their world after an apocalyptic tragedy.
That said, it's still too early to judge. Falling Skies could end up being the kind of fine-but-not-spectacular series that attracts people who just really like sci-fi shows, or it could turn out that the show offers something special that we just haven't seen yet. We'll find out in a few months.
Synopsis:
FALLING SKIES opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. The few remaining survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers engage in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force, whose nature and purpose remains a mystery. FALLING SKIES is a tale of endurance, commitment and courage in which everyday people are called upon to become heroes. The survivors may be outmatched, outnumbered and outgunned, but nothing can beat the human spirit. The series combines stunning visual effects and personal human stories about triumph and survival in the most devastating circumstances.
Falling Skies stars Wyle as Tom Mason, a Boston history professor whose family has been torn apart. Bloodgood also stars as Anne Glass, a pediatrician who works with the survivors. Will Patton (Armageddon, TNT's Into the West) plays a fierce leader of the resistance, Weaver. And Roy plays Mason's eldest son and fellow- fighter, Hal. FALLING SKIES comes to TNT from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg.
