Why The Flash Redesigned Michael Keaton’s Classic Batsuit
By JOE ROBERTS
Actors who have played Batman often complain about having to wear the hero’s iconic suit, finding it difficult to hear, move, or even go to the bathroom.
Michael Keaton has shared how rigid his 1989 costume was, prompting “The Flash” director Andy Muschietti to upgrade the suit for the 71-year-old actor’s return to the role.
Muschietti explained, “You know the story. [Keaton] was like, ‘That old suit was impossible to work with.’ He was very frustrated because he couldn’t move his neck or anything.”
The director’s sister and producer, Barbara Muschietti, added, “Alex Burns, our costume designer, made a fantastic suit where this guy could actually move his neck, lift his leg.”
Although the suit looked great in the trailer, some felt that the Batsuit in “The Flash” lacked the same grandeur of Keaton’s “Batman” and “Batman Returns” suits.
