Why Star Trek’s Original Janeway Actress Quit After Just Two Days
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
“Star Trek: Voyager” was a big deal for Paramount in 1995. Its central character, Captain Elizabeth Janeway, was the first woman to serve as a lead command figure.
Oscar-nominated actress Geneviève Bujold was originally cast in the role, but after two days of filming, she walked off-set, making it clear that she wouldn't come back.
The “Voyager” creators noted that Bujold was overwhelmed and “realized that the rigors of episodic television were too demanding.”
However, when working with “Star Trek,” interviews, convention appearances, and an open acknowledgment of the fan community are key. Bujold, it seemed, wouldn't play that game.

Additionally, Bujold appeared unable to give any energy to Captain Janeway. Leaked footage reveals a terse and lackluster version of the character.
