Randy Quaid was one of Hollywood's most colorful and dependable character actors for over 30 years, and his downfall was so surreal it felt like performance art.
In 2009, Randy and his wife Evi were arrested for skipping out on a $10,000 bill at a Santa Barbara inn. Warrants were issued, and Evi pleaded no contest to a fraud charge.
After netting more warrants, they moved to Vancouver and began fighting extradition to the U.S. by claiming they were being stalked by a nefarious group called the Star Whackers.
The Quaids said this outfit had killed several actors like David Carradine. They made a documentary titled "Star Whackers" that featured a nude Quaid fondling himself.
Nevertheless, the Star Whackers were a serious enough threat for the Quaids to keep battling extradition until 2015, when the couple traveled to Vermont and turned themselves in.
A Vermont judge found problems with the California case, allowing the Quaids to walk free. Now, he's thrown in with the MAGA crowd, and it's unlikely he’ll ever make a comeback.
