This Bryan Cranston Crime Thriller Flop Became A Streaming Success On Netflix
By VALERIE ETTENHOFER
Netflix continues to be a place where initially poorly-received movies go to thrive, including an already-forgotten 2016 biopic: "The Infiltrator" starring Bryan Cranston.
In the film, Cranston plays an undercover special agent for U.S. customs who helps take down Pablo Escobar. It’s based on the true story of Robert Mazur.
The film earned $22 million in theaters against a budget that, per The Numbers, may have been twice that or more, and its Rotten Tomatoes scores are in the low 70-percent range.
The movie dropped on Netflix on November 1, 2024 and became the sixth most-watched feature film on Netflix by November 5, making a comeback after its lackluster original release.
The thriller also stars Diane Kruger, John Leguizamo, and Benjamin Bratt, and since it had a forgettable initial release, it feels new to many Netflix users browsing the home page.
