The Two Heist Movies With A 100% Score On Rotten Tomatoes
By JOE ROBERTS
There are two supposedly perfect heist films that have a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, both of which are British comedies: "The Lavender Hill Mob" and "The Ladykillers."
1951's "The Lavender Hill Mob" is from the legendary Ealing Studios and stars Alec Guinness, as bank clerk Henry Holland. Plenty of dry humor accompanies the illicit scheming.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, 71 critics reviewed "The Lavender Hill Mob," and 71 critics liked it in some form or fashion, many celebrating the humor and Guinness’ performance.
The other heist movie with a 100% score is 1955's "The Ladykillers," another Ealing Studios film starring Guinness, in which the heist crew must pretend to be a string quartet.
"The Ladykillers" has many fewer reviews, with only six coming from "Top Critics," which may be why it isn’t listed as "Certified Fresh" like "The Lavender Hill Mob" is.
