The True Story That Inspired The First Season Of Suits
By DREW TINNIN
The TV series “Suits,” a drama about the inner workings of a high-profile law firm, was actually inspired by a true story from the life of its creator and showrunner Aaron Korsh.
Korsh, a former investment banker, never planned to become a writer, which inspired what transpired with lead character Michael “Mike” Ross (Patrick J. Adams).
Mike gets recruited by Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) to join his law firm despite the fact that Mike never attended law school, paralleling Korsh’s unlikely foray into TV writing.
Using his own life as a blueprint for Mike, Korsch was able to craft one of the most compelling characters in episodic television from the last decade.
Speaking with Collider, Korsh explained, “I worked for a guy named Harvey, I had a good memory, and I had a dalliance with marijuana. A lot of the basis for the show is from that.”
