The Disappointing Indiana Jones Scene Karen Allen Wanted Rewritten

In “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” Karen Allen and Harrison Ford’s characters have a romantic moment in the “Where doesn’t it hurt?” scene. However, Allen had misgivings about it.
Allen said, “I remember being very, very disappointed [...] I was like, ‘Really? He’s really going to fall asleep here? After all we’ve been through. [...] Can we change that?’”
When Allen rewatched “Raiders,” she saw that director Steven Spielberg made it clear that Indy (Ford) didn’t just fall asleep and miss out on an intimate night with Marion (Allen).
Allen explained, “[I] realized Marion wakes up in the bed by herself [the next morning] and she reaches back and pulls her nightgown off the top of the bed.”
She added, “I had completely forgotten [...] I thought, ‘Oh, they probably did have their romantic moment.’ [...] Steven had made sure that in that very first beat, we see that.”
