Star Wars: The Acolyte’s Force Witches Aren't A Series First
By BRYAN YOUNG
In “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” Mae and Osha were born into a witches’ coven led by Mother Aniseya, who created them with the help of Mother Koril. They are being taught the Force.
Organizations like this have existed for a long time in the galaxy, and this isn't the only coven or Force users that haven't adhered to what we know about the Jedi and the Sith.
The most obvious parallel to Aniseya's coven on Brendok are the Witches of Dathomir, led by Mother Talzin. These witches are often clad in red, and have a dark, green majick.
They leaped into canon in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and the character of Asajj Ventress. Adhering neither to the ways of the Jedi or the Sith, they live in isolation on Dathomir.
Thanks to "Ahsoka," we know of the Nightsisters of Dathomir. Showrunner Leslye Headland told IGN said the Nightsisters were an inspiration but they are not featured in the show.
