Star Wars: The Acolyte Series Adds Jodie Turner-Smith To
The Cast
By ERIN BRADY
Deadline reports that Jodie Turner-Smith is in final negotiations to join “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” Disney+’s upcoming prequel series set 100 years before the Skywalker Saga. Turner-Smith will be the second confirmed cast member of the series if the deal is finalized, joining Amandla Stenberg, who is playing the lead.
Details about the project or the characters remain a mystery, but we do know “The Acolyte” takes place in the High Republic Era. Showrunner Leslye Headland has explained the significant benefits of creating a story outside the preexisting lore.
“We’re taking a look at the political and personal and spiritual things that came up in a time period that we don’t know much about,” said Headland. One thing that we do know is that the series is described by Disney as “a mystery-thriller” during a time of relative prosperity that fosters “shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers.”
