Star Trek: First Contact Used A Common Household Item For Geordi's Eyeballs

Throughout "Star Trek: The Next Generation," Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) wore a visor across his eyes in order to see. However, he got contacts in "Star Trek: First Contact."
Burton was tired of wearing his visor, as it blocked much of vision, so for "First Contact," the filmmakers wrote that Geordi got upgraded, eyeball-shaped appliances installed.
Takemura said, "It was actually a crystal faucet shower handle that I found at Home Depot. I just took some still photographs of it and [...did] some expansions of his iris."
