Jeremy Renner Begged Marvel To Kill Hawkeye After The Avengers
By JENNA BUSCH
Throughout “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) runs around brainwashed by Loki, seemingly useless, which made Renner beg Marvel for his character to be killed off.
At London Film and Comic Con in 2016, Renner revealed he was bored as “Loki's minion,” and during filming, he found a way to let the studio know with some alternate takes of dying.
The actor explained, “I just had a heart attack in every scene. I’d just be walking with Scarlett Johansson and just be like ‘Ugh!’ and they said ‘What are you doing man?’”
Renner continued, “I said, ‘I’m giving you an option, if you just want to kick me out of this movie. [...] [I]f you wanna kill me off, daddy’s gonna be having a heart attack.’”
Shortly after the release of “Captain America: Civil War” in 2016, Renner expressed more happiness with the role, but it was still years away from his Disney+ series “Hawkeye.”
“I don't really want him to die now. I really got to explore him a lot, and I can’t wait to explore him more, and there’s some really cool ideas coming up,” shared Renner.
