How Star Trek’s Big Decision Makers Handle Their Toxic Fans
By JEREMY MATHAI
"Star Trek" fans are known for their passionate feedback, which has significantly shaped the franchise's direction, as the figurehead, Alex Kurtzman, told Variety.
In his interview, the "Star Trek" executive explained that showrunners must balance the line between positive and negative feedback from fans because of how toxic it can become.
Kurtzman cited harsh criticism the franchise received for moments like the introduction of Michael Burnham in “Star Trek: Discovery” and the irreverent tone of “Lower Decks.”
He reassured that he could "separate the toxic fandom from really true fans who love 'Star Trek' and want you to hear what they have to say about what they would like to see."
