How Kurt Russell Felt About Guardians Of The Galaxy’s De-Aging Tech

De-aging CGI has come a long way, but it will always be hampered by our brains intuitively seeking flaws once we know something has been digitally-rendered.
Going to the opposite extreme isn't the solution either, as practical makeup and effects aren't without similar limitations. However, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” chose both.
As Kurt Russell told /Film's Ben Pearson, he and makeup artist Dennis Liddiard convinced director James Gunn they could help whittle the actor's age down through practical methods.
When it comes to the de-aging process, what really matters is avoiding that uncomfortable spot where the audience spends the entire time recoiling in horror at a monstrosity.
Russell told Vanity Fair they wanted to do it “old school” which adds credibility as it looks “more natural because there's not that creep factor to it.”
