Spoiler Warning!
This story contains spoilers for “The Last of Us.”
Laura Bailey played Abby Anderson in “The Last of Us Part 2” video game and also had a small cameo in the game’s HBO series adaptation as a nurse, but her face was covered.
On whether the actress will return for the show’s Season 2, creator Neil Druckmann told reporters, “She's got a mask on, so we can make her anything we want in the next season.”
Merle Dandrige appeared in the video game as Marlene and reprised her role in the HBO series; however, her reappearance was an exception as the series mostly cast new actors.
Abby is a unique villain with nuance and depth, and the fortunate actor who gets to inhabit the character will mystify audiences with Abby's spellbinding moral ambiguity.
Abby’s complexity compels viewers to constantly reconsider their feelings about her as the story unfolds, and her presence also reshapes how fans view the story’s main characters.
Fans are likely to see Bailey in Season 2, but she probably won't be playing Abby. Her nurse role may be larger or she may finally be unmasked in a new part.
