Chris Hemsworth Wants A Radical Shift In Tone For A Potential Thor 5
By MICHAEL BOYLE
Chris Hemsworth's Thor had the bumpiest ride in the MCU until "Thor: Ragnorak" changed the game, and took full advantage of the world established throughout the past sixteen Marvel films. The shift in tone was not lost on Hemsworth either: "I think it's about reinventing it," he said in a recent ScreenRant interview, adding, "I enjoy that, I like keeping people on their toes."
Director Taika Waititi's comedy can be a slippery slope, with "Endgame" taking Thor’s trauma, and mining it for cheap laughs at his expense, rendering his character a distasteful joke. "Love and Thunder" ‌was Thor's silliest movie yet, and the humor gave the impression that nobody involved in the film particularly cared about the movie they were making.
While a fifth Thor movie hasn’t been announced, Hemsworth knows that it's time to freshen things up again. "When it becomes too familiar, I think there's a risk in getting lazy then because I know what I'm doing. I think it would have to be a drastically different version in tone, everything, just for my own sanity," he told ScreenRant.
