Brendan Fraser's Transformation For George Of The Jungle Messed With
His Brain
By BJ COLANGELO
Disney’s 1997 live-action film “George of the Jungle” is a fun, family-friendly comedy starring Brendan Fraser as the titular character. However, while the movie is certainly a hilarious watch, Fraser revealed that behind the scenes, the film was high-pressure, and even for the dedicated performer, preparing for the part was physically and mentally exhausting.
In a recent interview, Fraser revealed that getting in shape for “George of the Jungle” was physically and mentally exhausting. Fraser recalled, “[I was] Starved of carbohydrates […] I needed some cash one day, and I went to the ATM, and I couldn’t remember my PIN number because my brain was misfiring. Banging on the thing. I didn’t eat that night.”
This isn’t Fraser’s only experience with going to physical and mental extremes for a role, and while shooting “The Mummy,” he was known for continuing to perform despite sustaining physical injuries. However, it seems that the actor has since learned that working despite physical pain or starving himself to the point of mental exhaustion is nothing to praise.
