Spoiler Warning!
This story contains spoilers for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.”
While most of the heroes from “Guardians of the Galaxy” don’t really have superpowers or grow more powerful as the series progresses, one notable exception is Groot.
In previous films, Groot sports many powers, including super strength and limb regeneration; however, “Vol. 3” features a bulkier version of the character with a few new tricks.
During the film, Groot shows that he can hide weapons inside his body under his bark armor and turn into a giant “kaiju” version of himself that’s even stronger and more menacing.
Groot also has the ability to sprout a pair of gliding wings, survive decapitation, and move his head around in a kind of spider-like fashion.
The mid-credit scene shows that Groot is still growing and achieves a new status as King Groot, a figure closer to his original comic book appearance.
