Bones’ First Episode Included A Scene That Came Right Out Of Real Life
By SANDY SCHAEFER
In "Bones," the protagonist Temperance Brennan is modeled after Kathy Reichs, a real-life forensic anthropologist, and the show occasionally draws inspiration from her experiences.
There is a scene in the first episode where Brennan and her team are casually discussing their forensic work, unaware that their conversation is unsettling to those around them.
As per series creator Hart Hanson, this moment in the pilot is a direct reflection of an actual incident that happened with Reichs, who shared the story with the show's producers.
The episode also shows Brennan returning from Guatemala. This scenario echoes Reichs' experience in 2002 when she assisted in identifying victims of the country’s civil war.
