Easter eggs have become an everyday staple in modern movies, but sometimes they are wholly unexpected, such as the "Happy Gilmore" in "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F."
Axel Foley gets shouted at for crashing a helicopter on a golf course by a character credited "Golfer," but "Happy Gilmore" fans will recognize the irate man: Shooter McGavin.
Since Netflix has reached a production deal with Adam Sandler and announced "Happy Gilmore 2," McGavin's inclusion seems like a promotion for the new film.
However, "Axel F" director Mark Molloy claims he didn't know about "Happy Gilmore 2," and just wanted to include the character as he's a fan of the 1996 comedy classic.
Molloy chose McGavin actor Christopher McDonald for a cameo. He explained, "There's no bigger story behind it, apart from me wanting to have some fun."
