A Legendary Star Trek Actor Once Lent His Talents To It’s Always Sunny
By DANIELLE RYAN
There have been many great guest actors on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” including one that was a special treat for fans of “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.”
In the Season 6 episode “The Gang Gets a New Member,” the late René Auberjonois takes on the role of Dee’s old mentor and high school drama teacher, Dr. Larry Meyers.
Some fans may not have recognized Auberjonois without his prosthetic makeup that made him into Constable Odo, the shapeshifting security chief on “Deep Space Nine.”
Another reason he may not have been recognized is because Auberjonois delivers a hilarious performance as Dr. Meyers that’s far removed from the stodgy Odo.
The most fun moment comes when he breaks his hip, as he gets to use the vulgar vocabulary of the series, telling Dee, “No, I’m not acting, you b****!”
