'LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures' Trailer: Don't Mess With The Freemakers

Taking place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Disney XD's LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures follows a young family of scavengers running a business together. As the siblings work on building up their repair shop, they come face-to-face with some notable characters from the Star Wars universe, including Darth Vader, Maz Kanata, and Jaba the Hutt.

On June 20th up until Thursday, June 23rd, Disney XD will air a new episode of the series every day that week following the premiere. Produced by Torsten Jacobson (LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales), Carrie Beck (Star Wars Rebels), and others, this marks the first TV series LEGO, Disney, and LucasFilm has collaborated on.

When the Freemaker family discovers a powerful lightsaber with a connection to The Force, they end up facing off against The Empire. With the Kyber lightsaber, they'll try to "restore peace and freedom to the galaxy."

Disney XD is unveiling the premiere episode tomorrow. There's an event they're live-streaming titled "LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures Battle of the Bricks," which starts at 8:00 p.m. (EST). It's hosted by Youtube and Instagram "celebrities" that, I presume, mostly only Disney XD's audience is familiar with. Based on the trailer, this series may not appeal to older fans of Clone Wars or Star Wars in general, but it looks just right for any young Star Wars fan.

Here's the official synopsis:

Set between the events of "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," the series will feature all-new heroes and villains in action-packed, comedic adventures with familiar characters and locations from the filmed "Star Wars" saga. The series stars the Freemaker family, three sibling scavengers who build and sell starships from the scoured debris of space battles strewn throughout the galaxy. When their youngest discovers a natural connection with the Force through an ancient artifact – the Kyber Saber – his world is turned upside down, and he and his family are thrown into an epic struggle against the Empire to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy. Throughout their adventures, the Freemakers explore new worlds, meet new and familiar characters, and learn the true value of what it means to be a family.

LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures premieres on Monday, June 20th at 10:00am ET.
