Kevin Feige Explains 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Title, Reveals When To Expect 'Captain Marvel' Trailer And 'Avengers 4' Title
Kevin Feige gave some MCU updates to fans and press who are thirsty for answers after the emotional devastation of Avengers: Infinity War. And while the Marvel Studios chief expanded on what to expect for the upcoming Marvel projects Spider-Man: Far From Home and Captain Marvel, he still left us with more a few more questions than answers.
At the Ant-Man and the Wasp press junket, Feige provided the press with an array of questions about Marvel's upcoming movies Captain Marvel, Avengers 4, and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
The title was "accidentally" revealed by Holland this weekend, which conveniently happened right before the Ant-Man and the Wasp press junket with Feige. It was at the junket that Feige confirmed the Spider-Man: Far From Home title to CinemaBlend and teased that like Spider-Man: Homecoming, there are multiple meanings to that title.
[It's] similar [to Spider-Man: Homecoming]. I won't say what the meanings are, but we enjoy that title because, like Homecoming, it is full of alternate meaning. And we liked continuing the 'Home' thing, with the little Spidey symbol in the 'Home.'
So what could the double meaning be? Well, we know the literal one: that Spidey will be traveling the globe, with Spider-Man: Far From Home set to film in London and other European locations that will take Peter Parker far away from his familiar Queen streets. But — considering the ending of Avengers: Infinity War — could it also mean that Spidey is not only traveling different countries, but different dimensions or timelines? We won't find out for sure until the movie hits theaters on July 5, 2019.
But with the sequel set to begin production in two weeks or "early next month," according to Collider, perhaps we'll be able to glean more about the significance of "Far From Home."
Captain Marvel Trailer
Marvel has kept up a habit of attaching its highly anticipated trailers with releases of their newest films. But, despite the heavy interest and bated breath of many fans, that won't be the case for Captain Marvel.
In his interview with Comic Book, Feige revealed that the Captain Marvel trailer is "still a few months" out. That means it likely won't hit the internet by the time San Diego Comic Con rolls around next month either.
Feige doesn't give a clear reason why Marvel Studios won't release the trailer soon other than the studio is "still figuring out" when to release it. But production has not yet wrapped on Marvel's first solo female superhero movie, so it may just be that Marvel is biding their time for this all-important trailer release.
Avengers 4 Title
Speaking of biding their time, Feige revealed that the Avengers 4 title...will not be released until the end of this year. Collider spoke to Feige about the eventual reveal, and Feige continued his tight-lipped stance, saying:
That'll be after the Captain Marvel teaser probably, announcing that title. It'll be towards the end of the year with however we launch that film.
Ah well, here's to four to five more months of speculation articles.
