James Marsden Latest To Join 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues'
For his next trick, Ron Burgundy will go one and one with Cyclops. James Marsden, who played the X-Men leader in the first three films, and was once Liz Lemon's love interest on 30 Rock, has just been cast as a rival anchor to the News Team in Adam McKay's Anchorman: The Legend Continues.
Scheduled for release December 20, the highly-anticipated sequel begins filming next month in Atlanta. It stars Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner, Kristen Wiig and Christina Applegate.Deadline broke the news of the casting and described Marsden's role as "a rival anchor and nemesis." The question then becomes, is he the only one? Because in the first Anchorman there were several rival anchors, the most famous one played by Vince Vaughn.
Marsden is a perfect fit for this film though. He's been in plenty of action and sci-fi but also shines in comedy, both on 30 Rock and in films like Death at a Funeral or Robot and Frank. Next up, he'll star in 2 Guns with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg and Lee Daniels' The Butler. Whether or not he'll once again put on the visor for X-Men: Days of Future Past is still a point of contention. The character famously died in X-Men The Last Stand so Marsden could co-star in Superman Returns.)
How do you think Marsden will fit in with Ferrell, Rudd, Carrell and the crew?
