'Disenchantment' First Look: Matt Groening's New Adult Animated Series Comes To Netflix [Updated]
Update: More images have been released of Disenchantment, as well as the show's month of release. Disenchantment will hit Netflix in August 2018. See more below.Matt Groening will be leaving his longtime home at Fox to tell his latest tale. After two years in development hell, Disenchantment is coming to Netflix. And a first look is here.
Groening's adult animated fantasy series follows an alcoholic princess in the medieval kingdom of Dreamland and stars a who's who of cult comedy stars, including Abbi Jacobson of Broad City, Nat Faxon, and Eric Andre. Now you can get a first look at the characters that will be sure to capture your imagination, just like Groening's other animated staples The Simpsons and Futurama.
When I say first look, I say that generously. Because in true Groening trolling fashion, the Disenchantment first look consists of the briefest of teases. See what I mean with the tweet from Netflix below, which tantalizes us with the caption, "A princess, an elf, and a demon walk into a bar...The new series from The Simpsons creator Matt Groening, coming soon."

That's all we'll get to see of the characters played by Jacobson, Faxon, and Andre. The three of them play the main trio of the hard-drinking princess Bean (Jacobson), her "feisty" elf companion Elfo (Faxon), and Bean's personal demon Luci (Andre).
Update: A better look at the characters has been released, along with the show's month of release.

Disenchantment will include 20 episodes airing over two seasons of 10 episodes each. The animated series will add to Netflix's slate of adult-oriented animated comedies like Big Mouth, BoJack Horseman, and F Is For Family.
The main characters will be voiced by Abbi Jacobson of Broad City, Nat Faxon, and Eric Andre, with additional voices by John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.
Here is the official synopsis for Disenchantment:
"In Disenchantment, viewers will be whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools."
Disenchantment will premiere its first 10 episodes in August 2018, and continue airing 10 episodes at a time.
