Cool Stuff: Avatar AMP Suit Maquette
When I first saw the line of Avatar action figures and toys at Comic-Con, I was disappointed. They were stationed right next to the life-size AMP Suit, that is beyond awesome. But the figures just looked cheap. Why isn't McFarlane making more toys these days? But when I heard that Sideshow Collectibles would be producing a collector's line of statues and maquettes, I became excited once again.
Who wouldn't want to own a scale version of the AMP Suits? Well the AMP Suit Maquette has officially gone on sale on SideShowToy.com, but it's a lot more expensive than anyone could have imagined: $1199.99. The life-size Iron Man bust was almost half the price, $699. That's right, its expensive... too expensive. But that won't stop us from featuring this highly detailed maquette in Cool Stuff.
Created in conjunction with the film's special effects studio Legacy Effects, directly from 3D scans of the 14-foot suit used during filming, the AMP Suit is a truly authentic scaled representation.
Each piece is individually painted and finished, each with its own unique quality and detail that is the trademark of a handcrafted Sideshow Collectibles product.
The AMP Suit stands 30 inches high, and the display is 24 inches in width and depth.
