Confirmed: Chris Zylka Cast As Flash Thompson In 'Spider-Man'
The Wrap confirms out earlier November 22nd 2010 rumor report that actor Chris Zylka had been cast in Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboot as Flash Thompson.Previously:
Eugene is better known to comic book fans as Flash Thompson, a character created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, first appearing in Amazing Fantasy #15 published in August 1962. According to wikipedia, the character is "a star high school football player and classmate of Peter Parker (secretly the superhero Spider-Man) who mercilessly bullies "Puny Parker." On the other hand, Flash greatly admires Spider-Man, an irony in which Parker takes some gratification. After graduation, Flash joins the United States Army and is haunted by his combat experiences, leading to alcoholism. Later on in the series, Flash and Peter become friends."
Zylka joins a cast which includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Spider-Man (well, a couple stuntmen and many computers will also be Spider-Man) and then Rhys Ifans as the Lizard, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, presumably Sally Field as Aunt May, and Denis Leary as the father of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). Campbell Scott (Roger Dodger, The Spanish Prisoner) and Julianne Nicholson (Kinsey, Little Black Book) as Parker's parents, Richard and Mary Parker, who leave their son an orphan.
Irrfan Khan (Slumdog Millionaire, The Darjeeling Limited) will play Nels Van Adder was a former research assistant who volunteered to become a test subject for a chemical developed by Stromm and Norman Osborn, which results in him becoming a villain named Proto-Goblin. Annie Parisse (Rubicon, National Treasure) will play Van Atter's wife. It has been rumored that Chris Zylka has been cast as Eugene Thompson
Zylka has had roles in Hannah Montana, Everybody Hates Chris, Cougar Town, 10 Things I Hate About You the television series, the made for television movie My Super Psycho Sweet 16 and the Gregg Araki movie Kaboom
