Angela Bassett And Gattlin Griffith Join Green Lantern
Today it has been revealed that Angela Bassett and Gattlin Griffith have joined the cast of Martin Campbell's big screen adaptation of DC Comics' Green Lantern.
Oscar-nominated actress Bassett (Malcolm X, Boyz n the Hood, What's Love Got to Do with It) will play Dr. Amanda Waller, a former congressional aide and government agent who in the comics was often placed in charge of the Suicide Squad, a semi-secret government-run group of former super villains working in return for amnesty.
9-year-old Griffith, who has appeared previously in Changeling and Couple's Retreat, will be shooting for 12 days as the role of "Robert". We're not sure what this character does in the film, but it could be that the "Robert" part might be a code name for the young Hal Jordan. Jenna Craig had already been announced to play the 11-year-old version of love interest Carol Ferris, but no child actor has yet been announced for Jordan's younger counterpart.
They will join the already announced cast of Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern), Peter Sarsgaard (villain Dr. Hector Hammond), Mark Strong (Sinestro), Tim Robbins (Hammond's father), Blake Lively (love interest Carol Ferris). Green Lantern is currently in production in New Orleans.
