Monica Rambeua is leading her first ever solo comic book series
In a bit of convenient timing, Monica Rambeau is set to lead a new solo series for Marvel Comics. The publisher has announced "Monica Rambeau: Photon," a new five-issue miniseries that will arrive in December. Not coincidentally, Monica Rambeau will be a big part of "The Marvels" next year, so it makes sense for her to get more time in the comics. Eve L. Ewing is writing the series, which will feature art from Michael Sta. Maria. Marvel also released a brief synopsis, which reads as follows:
In a revelatory journey spanning time and space, fan will behold Photon's true potential. The adventure begins when Photon is charged with making a very special, very cosmic delivery. What should be light work (get it?) for Monica becomes increasingly complex and dangerous due to a threat from beyond and family drama.
"Monica Rambeau: Photon" #1 hits shelves on December 7.
Sins of Sinister event announced by Marvel Comics
The X-Men are going to have to contend with something sinister in 2023. Mister Sinister, to be exact! Marvel Comics has revealed that a new crossover event taking place within the "X-Men" books titled "Sins of Sinister" will be taking place in 2023. Few details have been shared at this time but they are teasing that Mister Sinister will be emerging victorious, and that will come with some major consequences. There's also the tagline "This is the future Sinister wants."Intriguing!
Punisher: War Zone is coming to 4K, check out the steelbook
"Punisher: War Zone" may not have been a hit in its day, but the film has certainly found its fans in the years since its initial release in 2008. As evidence of that, Lionsgate has revealed that the film is making its way to 4K Ultra HD on October 18, and Best Buy is even getting an exclusive steelbook. It is currently listed for $21.99. You can check out the new artwork above and fans who are interested in getting their hands on a copy can pre-order one by clicking here.
Moon Knight was removed from the Marvel Studios intro in She-Hulk
"She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" debuted on Disney+ last week and it came with a slightly altered Marvel Studios title card. As quite a few fans have noted on social media, Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight has been removed from the title card sequence after his hero debuted earlier this year. But why? Marc Spector is a new addition to the MCU? Well, some have speculated that this could mean we won't be seeing Isaac's Moon Knight returning to the universe, at least not anytime soon. Given that Isaac only signed a contract for one season, that could very well be the case. But, for now, any of that is pure speculation. It may well have just been a style choice by the studio and nothing more.
Batman: Caped Crusader is not canceled, but it won't air on HBO Max
Amidst the many changes happening at HBO Max right now, we recently learned that the animated "Batman: Caped Crusader" series from Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves is not moving forward at the streaming service. However, The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kitt took to Twitter shortly after those reports surfaced to make an important clarification.
"BATMAN: CAPED CRUSADER animated series: The show is not cancelled, per sources, just not going to stream on HBO Max. The show is deep in production, nothing is paused. It will show up somewhere."
So, it seems the show should find another home and probably sooner rather than later. The question is, where? It also seems as though there are no hard feelings as Reeves has signed a huge overall deal with Warner Bros. At the very least, he's not that mad about it.
Check out this unused concept art from Thor: Love and Thunder
We didn't actually get to see Jeff Golblum reprise his role as Grandmaster in "Thor: Love and Thunder." We do, however, know that the actor shot some scenes for the film that were ultimately cut. Now, artist Laurent Ben-Mimoun has offered a peek at what could have been, sharing some concept art of Grandmaster that was cooked up before the film's release. What is the Moon of Shame, exactly? How would this have factored in? All we can do is speculate but maybe we'll get a glimpse at some of this stuff when the Blu-ray comes out.
The Batman 2 brings in writer Mattson Tomlin
Mattson Tomlin ("Project Power") is officially co-writing "The Batman 2" alongside Matt Reeves. This, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which notes that Tomlin had worked on the script for the first film, though he did not ultimately receive a screenwriting credit. That's going to be different this time around as Tomlin appears to be partnering up with Reeves at the start of the process, with the outlet noting that the actual writing process is expected to begin soon. Plot details are naturally being kept under wraps for the time being but this adds to Tomlin's growing list of impressive credits. He's also adapting Keanu Reeves' "BRZRKR" comic into a film for Netflix.
Spider-Man: No Way Home re-release gets a teaser
Lastly, Sony and Marvel have released a new (very brief) teaser trailer for next week's re-release of "Spider-Man: No Way Home." The "More Fun Stuff" version of the record-breaking blockbuster will come with an extra 11 minutes of new footage. While most of that is being kept under lock and key, we get a couple of brief glimpses here, including Tom Holland's Peter Parker climbing up the wall at his school, and Spidey stopping a criminal on the street. Also of note, tickets for the re-release are on sale now. Check out the teaser for yourself above.
