Why The Book Of Boba Fett Chapter 3 Will Make Yellowjackets Fans Very Happy
"The Book of Boba Fett" has returned with Chapter 3, as we near halfway point of the latest "Star Wars" series on Disney+. And fans of the franchise finally got something they were looking forward to as the mysterious biker gang woman from one of the brief teaser trailers released ahead of the show's debut has finally arrived. As it just so happens, this character's entry into the franchise will actually likely make fans of another very popular show running right now, namely "Yellowjackets," quite happy. This is because none other than Sophie Thatcher, who stars in the Showtime series, is the one behind this cool new "Star Wars" character.
Warning: spoilers ahead for "The Book of Boba Fett." Proceed with caution.
Yellowjackets Meets a Galaxy Far, Far Away
In Chapter 3 of "The Book of Boba Fett," Boba and Fennec encounter more issues in getting control of their territory on Tatooine. Early on in the episode, a water merchant (played by Stephen Root) requests that they handle a gang that stole some of his supply. When Boba and Fennec encounter this gang, they discover that the merchant is selling the water at a ridiculously high price, and there is no work for them in the town. So, Boba, largely dealing with one of the biker gang's members named Drash, strikes a deal. They will work for him, Boba pays the merchant a small free for his lost merch, and the former bounty hunter's new empire has some new muscle.
And yes, as it turns out, Drash is played by none other than Thatcher, who is also at the center of "Yellowjackets" as the teenage version of Natalie. We get to see quite a bit more of Drash in the episode as well, as Boba enlists the help of his new allies to hunt down the mayor's right-hand man in a speeder chase later on. Here, Thatcher gets some time to truly shine. And it certainly seems like we're going to see more of her in the coming weeks as well.
Sophie Thatcher's Big Moment
Every once in a while, an actor just catches a wave at the right time, and everything lines up just so to put that person at the center of pop culture. Sophie Thatcher is having one of those remarkable moments. "Yellowjackets" has gained a lot of momentum as its first season has progressed, becoming one of the buzziest shows of the season. Meanwhile, by virtue of it being attached to "Star Wars," particularly "The Mandalorian," her appearing in "The Book of Boba Fett" just as "Yellowjackets" is approaching the conclusion of its first season, has made for a lightning in a bottle scenario.
One look at so-called Film Twitter will tell you that a certain portion of the internet is absolutely obsessed with Thatcher right now, and it feels safe to assume that this is going to catapult her into the spotlight, getting her attached to more high-profile projects in the future. Perhaps "Yellowjackets" fans who aren't already "Star Wars" fans now have reason to check out "The Book of Boba Fett," and the same goes for "Star Wars" fans who are looking for more of that Drash energy, who can now check out "Yellowjackets" to suit that need.
"The Book of Boba Fett" returns with new episodes Wednesdays on Disney+.
