(Welcome to ...And More, our no-frills, zero B.S. guide to when and where you can watch upcoming movies and shows, and everything else you could possibly stand to know.)
While "The Mandalorian" may be taking a break this year, "Star Wars" fans still have something big to look forward to on Disney+ in the form of "The Book of Boba Fett." This is the latest live-action show from Lucasfilm set in a galaxy far, far away, and it is finally giving one of the most popular characters in the franchise some time to shine in the spotlight. This is something a great many people have been waiting a very long time for. And we're here to help you prepare for the bounty hunting goodness to come.
Here is everything we know about "The Book of Boba Fett" season 1.
The Book of Boba Fett Season 1 Release Date and Where You Can Watch It
"The Book of Boba Fett" season 1 is set to arrive on December 29, only on Disney+, so make sure you have a subscription if you want to see the new adventures for the resurrected bounty hunter. As Mando might say, "This is the way."
What Is The Book of Boba Fett?
"The Book of Boba Fett" is a live-action "Star Wars" show set within the same universe and timeline as "The Mandalorian." The series was set up in a surprise post-credits sequence attached to "The Mandalorian" season 2 finale. In it, we saw Boba and Fennec Shand take over Jabba's Palace, which had been in control of Bib Fortuna since the events of "Return of the Jedi." The green-armored bounty hunter took the throne and set the stage for the events of the show.
No synopsis or plot details have been revealed for the series at this time. So the door is wide open in terms of what we may or may not see. But the title does sort of imply that we may get a little window into what happened to Mr. Fett during the years between falling into the Sarlacc pit and when we caught up with him again in "The Mandalorian."
In a recent interview, executive producer/director Robert Rodriguez did offer some idea of what to expect.
""[I] can't say anything about it at all right now, but it's coming out in December. Wait until you see what's coming. It's going to blow your mind. That's all I can say. I can talk it up all I want, because I know it over-delivers. It way over-delivers. People are going to be so pumped when they see it."
The Book of Boba Fett Season 1 Showrunner, Crew, and More
As mentioned, Robert Rodriguez is set as executive producer of the show. Rodriguez helped reintroduce Boba Fett to the franchise, rather gloriously, in "The Mandalorian" season 2. So it only seems fitting that he be heavily involved. Jon Favreau ("The Mandalorian," "Iron Man") and Dave Filoni ("Star Wars: The Clone Wars," "Star Wars: Rebels") are also set as executive producers. As for directors, Rodriguez is handling that as well in addition to Bryce Dallas Howard, Favreau and Filoni. All of whom directed episodes of "The Mandalorian."
The Book of Boba Fett Season 1 Cast
At present, the only confirmed cast members for the show are Temuera Morrison, who reprises his role as Boba Fett. Morrison originally played Jango Fett in the "Star Wars" prequels and was brought back into the fold to revive the character after many, many years away. Ming-Na Wen will also return as the bounty hunter Fennec Shand. Wen is getting quite a bit of time in this universe, as she also voices the role in "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 1.
The Book of Boba Fett Season 1 Teaser
We don't yet have a trailer for "The Book of Boba Fett." But we do have the post-credits scene from "The Mandalorian" season 2 finale, which helps to set the whole thing up.
