'Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer' Honest Trailer: 'Lord Of The Rings' For Kids On Acid
Once Thanksgiving is over, it'll be full speed ahead towards Christmas. In fact, some Christmas specials will already start airing at the end of this week. But before one of them returns to TV, maybe you should let Honest Trailers remind you just how weird it is.
Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer is a classic stop-motion animated Christmas special from the iconic Rankin/Bass Productions, and it's a staple of many families' holiday traditions. We usually mindlessly watch it, but if you ever pay attention to this special, you'll realize just how weird it is.
Watch the Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer Honest Trailer after the jump.
How do you stretch a Christmas carol that lasts only a few minutes and stretch it out into 45 minutes? Make up a bunch of weird stuff like an entire island full of toys that no one wanted, overseen by a flying lion king. Even though Honest Trailers points out just how odd all of this is, they don't even come close to pointing how little sense the Island of Misfit Toys actually makes.
The Island of Misfit Toys is populated by toys that are defective in some way or another. But those toys were made by elves, so why the hell didn't they just fix them instead of just banishing them to an island? Seems like kind of a dick move. Between that and Santa Claus lecturing Blitzen about Rudolph being different because of his nose, the North Pole really needs to reassess how they do things.
Also, I had no idea that sequel with the dinosaurs existed, and I must see it immediately, or at least see an Honest Trailer for it soon.
