Watch: The Muppets Star In New Live Shows At Disney World

Over the weekend, The Muppets new live show debuted at Disney World's the Magic Kingdom. The Muppets Present The Great Moments in History has had its grand opening but if you can't get down to Orlando Florida, don't worry — we have videos of both of the different shows for you to watch remotely. Hit the jump to see The Muppets live show from Walt Disney World.

There are two different versions of The Muppets live show: one version chronicles how the Declaration of Independence was born, and the other retells the story of Paul Revere's famous ride. The shows will now be performed intermittently several times each day in Liberty Square above the Heritage House (located right next to the Hall of Presidents).

The Muppets Live Show: The Midnight Ride Of Paul Revere

I love how they have adapted these America stories with the style, humor and wit of The Muppets. Currently, the show is performed between 9:30 am and 4:40 pm, but times may vary by day or week. You can watch a video of the new show embedded above, thanks to our friends at InsideTheMagic.

Our original story from July 28th, 2016 follows:The Muppets live show

Around the time that it was rumored that Guardians of the Galaxy would be taking over Disney California Adventure's Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (which is now officially announced), it was also rumored that Disney World's the Magic Kingdom's Hall of Presidents would be getting a makeover incorporating The Muppets. The Muppets rumor turned out to be partially correct, but thankfully the puppet characters won't be added to the classic Walt Disney attraction. Instead, they have begun performing a live show outside the famous hall. Hit the jump to watch The Muppets live show.

As you may have seen, news of the Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction has not gone over well with Disney theme park fans. A Change.org petition has already racked up 30,000 signatures in just a few days, the official YouTube announcement video has five times as many downvotes as it has upvotes, and the Disney Parks Blog has reportedly been deleting negative comments like never before. I can't imagine what the reaction would have been like if they had announced that the Muppets are being added to a classic Walt Disney attraction. Thankfully we're not going to find out.

Disney parks have announced that beginning this fall; the Muppets will be part of an all-new live show, "The Muppets Present... Great Moments in American History," outside the Hall of Presidents.

Sam Eagle, the fiercely patriotic American eagle who is forever trying to set a high moral standard for the Muppets, will join Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, The Great Gonzo and James Jefferson, town crier of Liberty Square, as they gather outside The Hall of Presidents to present historical tales in hysterical fashion as only they can. From the midnight ride of Paul Revere to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Muppets appear throughout the day to share with Guests, their own unique take on the founding fathers and the birth of the United States of America. Featuring an original song and plenty of wacky Muppets humor.

As a longtime fan of Jim Henson and the Muppets, I'm honestly shocked that it took this long to increase the Muppets' presence in the parks. Muppetvision 3D theater is still standing in Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, but the theater has been renamed, and word is the Muppets will never return. So as of right now, the Muppets have no presence in Disneyland Resort, which is a shame. For many years Walt Disney Imagineering was working on a remote-controlled Muppets interactive vehicle that would move about the parks, but I've never seen the thing in person, and it has only made rare appearances in the parks:

After the success of the 2011 film The Muppets, it was thought that Disney would bring more of the Muppets to the parks. We had heard rumors of a possible redo to Muppetvision 3D and other possible iterations. Muppets Most Wanted was not quite as successful, and the recent primetime show was considered a failure by most, so I'm surprised that Disney is finally rolling out more Muppet experiences in the parks.

I'm wondering if this new Muppets live show will be puppeteered live or if it will be created with preprogrammed animatronics. I guess that Disney World cast members will puppet the characters to a recorded show soundtrack, which wouldn't allow for much guest interaction. We'll have to see later this year.

The Muppets Present... Great Moments in American History will make its debut in October 2016.
