'Bojack Horseman' Season 3 Trailer: "What Do You Mean, 'What's Next?'"

Who would have guessed that the closest spiritual successor to Mad Men would come in the form of a half-hour cartoon about a washed-up sitcom star who just happens to be a horse? Netflix's Bojack Horseman was a little shaky in the early going, but it hit its funny-sad stride around the middle of its first season, and by its second season was a legitimate contender for one of the best shows on television.

So will Bojack Horseman keep up the good work in season 3, or will it self-destruct just like its equine star? Watch the first Bojack Horseman season 3 trailer and see for yourself. The returning voice cast includes Will Arnett, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Aaron Paul, and Paul F. Tompkins. 

Bojack Horseman season 2 saw Bojack spiraling further down than ever before, culminating in that crushing, cringeworthy interlude in New Mexico. But it ended on a hopeful note, with Bojack receiving some sage advice and renewing his efforts toward self-improvement. Will he keep making forward progress in season 2, or will he blow it all up again? Diane speaks for all of us when she expresses her concern: "This kind of thing can sometimes send you spinning. 'Oh God, why doesn't this make me happy, will anything make me happy?'" And Bojack's attitude to his newfound claim isn't exactly reassuring either. "If I win an Oscar, my life will have meaning," he declares.

But his pain is our gain. The appeal of this show isn't in seeing someone suffer; it's in seeing someone face the same fears we all have and survive, somehow, to fight another day. Well, that and cheesy animal puns.
