VOTD: Watch 'The Simpsons' Disney Couch Gag From 'Aladdin' Animator Eric Goldberg
Over the past two years, The Simpsons really seemed to have upped their game when it comes to delivering unique and bold iterations of their ongoing couch gag in the opening credits. Last year's couch gags included a tribute to Rick and Morty and an opening from Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi. Plus, back in 2014, The Simpsons took a cue from Disney's animated hit Frozen. Now their latest couch gag reaches back into the history of Disney, thanks to animator Eric Goldberg, the man responsible for bringing Genie to life in Aladdin and much more.

Here's Eric Goldberg's couch gag from last night's episode of The Simpsons (via FOX):
There are references to Disney's old school animation from the "Steamboat Willie" days as well as recreations of Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Jungle Book and Fantasia. The latter is a nice note to end on since Goldberg himself worked on the Rhapsody in Blue sequence from Fantasia 2000.
If The Simpsons ends up coming to an end sooner than later, I hope they really pull out all the stops for the remaining couch gags. They're frequently the most interesting and bold parts of the show that has been running for over two decades now.
