Cool Stuff: 'Ghostbusters' Potato Heads Actually Aren't Ugly Little Spuds At All
Ray Stantz insulted the ghoul known as Slimer in the original Ghostbusters by calling him an ugly little spud, just before he goes out of his way to slime Peter Venkman. But now it's the Ghostbusters' turn to be little spuds, because PPW Toys has just announced a couple new Mr. Potato Head toys inspired by Ghostbusters. One suits up Mr. Potato Head in the classic jump suit and equips him with a proton pack and neutrino wand while the other is dressed up as Mr. Stay Puft.
Check out the Ghostbusters Potato Head toys after the jump.
Here's a couple photos of the new Ghostbusters Potato Head figures (via Proton Charging):
If you want to get your hands on these spuds, they'll cost you $20, though there's no exact release date available just yet. Presumably they'll be available around the time the new Ghostbusters toys start hitting shelves this summer before the reboot arrives in July, but that's just a guess. If the price tag sounds a little salty, it's because they're not from Playskool, and therefore have a smaller production run. Plus, they have to license both Ghostbusters and Mr. Potato Head in order to be manufactured.
If those aren't your cup of tea, maybe these Ghostbusters nesting dolls from PPW Toys will do the trick:
The nesting dolls will only cost you $17, and they feature the original franchise characters. The description says each set includes six plastic dolls that stack inside each other measuring from 2" to 4.5" tall. And that Slimer piece is reportedly transparent.
There's bound to be plenty more new Ghostbusters gear on the way when the reboot hits theaters. We already know there's a new LEGO set featuring the new paranormal exterminators, but surely the original will get a bunch of nostalgic merchandise back on shelves as well.
