'Avengers: Infinity War': Russo Brothers Basically Confirm Chris Pratt For The Sequel
In under a month, audiences will finally get to see Captain America: Civil War unfold on the big screen, and if the early buzz is any indicator, it's going to be a great way to kick off the blockbuster summer. Later this week we'll have an even better idea as to how the movie plays with audiences as it will be screened at CinemaCon this week and also in 25 major cities around the United States.
However, directors Anthony & Joe Russo already have their eyes on the future with The Avengers: Infinity War set as their next project. We'll likely get a tease of what's in store for the two-part sequel in the credits of Civil War, but until then, the directing duo has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt will have a role in the film. In addition, the brothers also discussed what we can expect from each part of The Avengers: Infinity War.
As far as The Avengers Infinity War cast is concerned, we're expecting pretty much all of the Avengers to be in the two-part comic book sequel (at least if they all survive Civil War). But what about the Guardians of the Galaxy from the cosmic side of the Marvel cinematic universe? After all, Thanos has already given the space criminals-turned-heroes some problems in outer space, and now he'll be bringing trouble to Earth. So it would stand to reason that the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy would have to team up in order to defeat him.
The answer to this question came from an interview with ComicBook.com, who asked the Russo brothers what characters they're looking forward to working with that they haven't already. Anthony Russo tried not to be so direct with his answer, but here's what he had to say:
The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that's happened before in the MCU so you don't want to get into spoilers but I'm a big fan of what James Gunn has done. [Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you'd be very excited.
Even though Anthony Russo doesn't come right out and say "Chris Pratt is in Avengers: Infinity War," his answer is all we need to know that at least Star-Lord will be appearing in the movie. In addition, Joe Russo gave a less surprising answer, but he was much more direct about it:
I'm excited to work with Thor. They're doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he's gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he's gonna have a real emotional motivation after that.
So Chris Pratt and Chris Hemsworth will be involved in The Avengers: Infinity War, meaning we'll have heroes from very different parts of the galaxy coming back to Earth. That's just two of the many characters who are going to be in the sequel, but the full roster is undoubtedly going to be much bigger, especially with two full movies to feature all the heroes. Maybe we'll even get a glimpse at some new characters we haven't seen yet in Captain America: Civil War besides Spider-Man and Black Panther
