'The Bye Bye Man' Trailer: Doug Jones Wants To Make You Do Terrible Stuff
It may be hard to imagine now, what with spring just barely starting to creep in across much of the country, but there will come a time in the not-too-distant future when you're sweltering in the summer heat. When that day comes, you might welcome some spine-tingling chills to turn the blood in your veins to ice. And when you're looking for something to do just that, The Bye Bye Man hopes you'll give it a spin.
Directed by Stacy Title, the horror-thriller centers on a group of college kids who come across the "Bye Bye Man," a mysterious and malevolent force. It turns out this monster has a nasty habit of possessing people and committing unspeakable atrocities. Oh, and he's played by the wonderful Doug Jones, which makes him seem more interesting already. Watch the Bye Bye Man trailer after the jump.
The film's mostly flown under the radar til now, and the first trailer is... not terribly promising. The first 30 seconds play like some kind of cheesy true-crime reenactment on a low-budget TV show, and the rest of it is a collection of vaguely creepy scenes that could have been copy-and-pasted in from any number of other horror movies. But the idea of the Bye Bye Man is an interesting one (and again, he's played by Doug Jones) so hopefully the film itself has some more original thrills to offer.
The Bye Bye Man is in theaters June 3, 2016. In addition to Jones, the eclectic cast includes Carrie-Anne Moss, Faye Dunaway, Douglas Smith, Cressida Bonas, and Lucien Laviscount.
People commit unthinkable acts every day. Time and again, we grapple to understand what drives a person to do such terrible things. But what if all of the questions we're asking are wrong? What if the source of all evil is not a matter of what...but who?
From the producer of The Strangers and Oculus comes The Bye Bye Man, a chilling horror-thriller that exposes the evil behind the most unspeakable acts committed by man.
When three college friends stumble upon the horrific origins of the Bye Bye Man, they discover that there is only one way to avoid his curse: don't think it, don't say it. But once the Bye Bye Man gets inside your head, he takes control. Is there a way to survive his possession?
