How Long Is 'Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice'?
As its title suggests, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has a whole lot going on. Not only does it need to introduce the latest incarnation of Batman (Ben Affleck) and Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) and the first-ever big-screen version of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), it plans to pay off the destructive ending of Man of Steel and also set up two Justice League movies and another half-dozen DC solo outings.
That's a lot of ground for any one movie to cover, so it's probably not surprising that the film will be taking its time on the big screen. Find out the Batman v Superman runtime after the jump.
AMC Theatres (via The Playlist) lists the Batman v Superman runtime as 151 minutes. For comparison, that's eight minutes longer than Man of Steel, nine minutes longer than Avengers: Age of Ultron, and eleven minutes longer than Batman Begins — but also one minute shorter than The Dark Knight and a full 13 minutes shorter than The Dark Knight Rises. Batman may have money, power, and moral righteousness on his side, but brevity clearly isn't his strong suit.
Ultimately, the runtime doesn't really tell us that much about the movie. We've seen 88-minute films that feel like they drag on for three times as long, and three-hour epics that seem to go by in a snap. Still, it's useful info if you're making plans for opening weekend — or if you just find yourself sitting in the theater wondering whether it's worth ducking into the bathroom while the trailers are still rolling. (The answer, in this case, is "definitely yes.")
Directed by Zack Snyder, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters March 25. Here's the synopsis:
Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis' most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.
