VOTD: 'The Simpsons' Movie References: A Side-By-Side Supercut Of Some Of The Best
Even if you're not a fan of The Simpsons anymore, there's a good chance that at some point you loved the cartoon family from Springfield, Somewhere. And even if you've only seen a handful of episodes, you probably know that the show makes countless pop culture references with an affinity for recreating plenty of iconic movies.
Now one fan of the show decided to round up over two dozen of The Simpsons movie references and puts clips from various episodes side-by-side with the movies they're paying homage to. It's awesome to see just how accurate their recreations are when compared to the film. Watch below.
Here's the tribute to The Simpsons movie references from Vimeo user cgmzz (via The Film Stage):
There's a bit of everything here, from Raiders of the Lost Ark to Requiem for a Dream, along with tons of horror movie references thanks to the show's Treehouse of Horror Halloween anthology episodes that arrive every year. Even though I'm someone who gave up on The Simpsons years ago, I go out of my way every single year to watch that special episode.
What's crazy is that this is just a small fraction of the movie references that happen in The Simpsons. I can't even imagine how long a video would be that captured all of them from the show's 27 seasons. However, we might be coming close to the end of the series.
While The Simpsons was renewed for two more seasons last year, it didn't come without some struggles to get all of the cast back. We could be looking at the final episodes of The Simpsons over the next couple years, especially with Matt Groening working on a new animated series at Netflix. If you're still a fan, just enjoy the show while you can.
