New 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Covers Demand That You Buy The Same Magazine Four Times
By this time next month, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will have graced the cover of just about every major entertainment publication on the planet. Any editor worth his or her salary would have arranged to have the most anticipated movie of 2015 appear in the pages of their magazine. It's the Circle of Blockbuster Hype: The Force Awakens has the potential to be one of the biggest movies of all time, so everyone keeps on talking about it... and since everyone is talking about it, it has the potential to be one of the biggest movies of all time. Insert signing lions here – Disney does own Star Wars, after all.
Anyway, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled four new Star Wars: The Force Awakens covers, each of them showing off a separate character. Depending on your personal taste (or which one randomly decides to show up in your mailbox, if you're a subscriber), you can pick up a copy featuring Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, and C-3PO and R2-D2 as themselves. Well, technically those last two are Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. Check out the covers for yourself after the jump.
This new EW cover story is another in a long line of 2015 magazine stories delving into The Force Awakens. You may remember the Vanity Fair cover story from earlier this year, which gave us our first proper look at many of the new characters. A few months ago, Empire revealed three unique Star Wars covers, giving readers the chance to own a heroes cover, a villains cover, or a BB-8 solo cover. And this latest batch of covers isn't the first time EW has played the Star Wars game this year.
In addition to the four separate covers (you've gotta collect 'em all to prove you're a true and proper Star Wars fan, apparently), the EW cover story promises a whole bunch of actual, proper coverage of the film film in question, enough to make this a double-sized issue. The material behind these covers includes a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, an in-depth interview with Harrison Ford, an examination of where the still-absent Luke Skywalker has gone, a breakdown of new vehicles and creatures, and more.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will open on December 18, 2015. In the meantime, you can read a literal mountain of magazine articles on the subject to prepare your body and soul for what lies ahead. Check out the EW covers in the gallery below.
