Final 'In The Heart Of The Sea' Trailer: Chris Hemsworth Deals With A Real Moby Dick

"Call me Ishmael" isn't a line from Kingpin, but rather the iconic opening text from the classic novel Moby Dick. And this line finally graces the screen in the final In the Heart of the Sea trailer, the adaptation of the true story that inspired Herman Melville's 1851 novel.

Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World) has the lead role as first mate Owen Chase on the whaling ship Essex, which clearly is going to have a rough time at sea when this giant sea mammal learns that the crew has been killing all its friends.

In addition to Hemswoth, Benjamin Walker plays the outmatched Captain; Cillian Murphy is second mate Matthew Joy; Tom Holland is young seaman Tom Nickerson. Even Herman Melville himself is part of the story with Ben Whishaw playing the author who hears the story in part from the older version of Nickerson, played by Brendan Gleeson.

It looks like Warner Bros. made a smart move to hold this until awards season, because it could certainly end up getting some attention. However, there are some parts of this trailer that have me second-guessing whether Hemsworth will have a praiseworthy performance to talk about.

The question is how well will this movie do at the box office with just one week of screentime before Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives? The sci-fi sequel will take over IMAX screens on December 18th, meaning the Ron Howard film will only have one week for audiences to catch it on the giant screen, so make sure you plan your trip to the movies accordingly.

Set in the winter of 1820, 'In the Heart of the Sea' follows the New England whaling ship Essex as it is assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. In the Heart of the Sea reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.

In the Heart of the Sea arrives on December 11th.
