'Batman V Superman' Trailer Is Even Better Set To 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Trailer Music
By now, you've probably seen both the final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the most recent trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (though a new trailer for the latter is supposed to be coming soon). They're both great teases for what will be two of the biggest films of 2015 and 2016 respectively. And they're even more powerful when they join forces.
A new Batman v Superman Force Awakens trailer mash-up featuring footage from the DC Comics face-off set to the powerful music and selected voiceover of the sci-fi saga should please fans of all the franchises involved. Just let it in.
Here's the Batman v Superman Force Awakens trailer mash-up by Ryan Taylor (via CNET):
Obviously some liberties were taken with the voiceover, mainly removing Rey's early line of "I'm no one" since it doesn't match with Batman or Superman. And some of the footage has been repurposed to work better with the tone of the music and other key voiceover lines, with specifically great placement of both Finn's "I was raised to do one thing, but I've got nothing to fight for," when Bruce Wayne appears, and also Kylo Ren's menacing lines that are made to feel like they belong to the Joker.
Batman is the dark side and Superman is the Jedi, which probably no one will argue with. Zack Snyder actually made Superman into a Super Jedi of sorts with a fun little photoshoot from the set of Batman v Superman last summer.
But what's truly great about this trailer mash-up is just how perfectly the Star Wars themes go with the visuals. The lighter, more heroic themes match with Superman perfectly, perhaps because his original theme was composed by John Williams as well, while the more sinister Empire musical cues fit Batman perfectly.
