Amazon's 'Transparent' Renewed For Season 3

The second season of Transparent, ordered just after the debut of the first season, has not yet premiered on Amazon Prime. But there's already a deal to continue the story of Jeffrey Tambor's character, originally the patriarch of the Pfefferman family, who in the first season began a new life as the transgender Maura. Amazon has ordered Transparent season 3, which comes along with a deal that will see the show's creator, Jill Soloway, making TV exclusively for Amazon.

THR reports that production is just now beginning on Transparent season 2, and that Soloway will carry on as showrunner even as she develops other material for Amazon, with Andrea Sperling promoted to executive producer on the show. Slowly and Sperling will run the company that develops new material for the streaming service.

In addition to the return of Tambor, season three will feature the show's core cast: Judith Light stars as Maura's ex-wife Shelly, and Gaby Hoffmann, Amy Landecker and Jay Duplass as the children of them former couple.

Amazon Studios VP Roy Price said,
