Cool Stuff: The Goonies Pinball Machine Arrives In Time For 30th Anniversary
In case you didn't know, it's the 30th anniversary of Richard Donner's adventure flick The Goonies. While talk keeps swirling about a potential sequel, fans will just have to settle for celebrating the original film. And that's exactly what one fan has done with a pretty impressive custom creation that you normally don't see anymore.
Mike Johnson from Orlando, Florida has spent his time producing a custom pinball game paying tribute to The Goonies, and it's an extremely detailed triumph of engineering and passion for the movie. Check out The Goonies pinball machine after the jump!
Here's a little short taking a closer look at the creation of The Goonies pinball machine:
Thanks to The AV Club for bringing this to our attention. Considering all the love for pinball there was in the 80s, not to mention the fact that plenty of unworthy movies have been given their own pinball machines, it's odd that there was never an official pinball machine made to honor The Goonies. Even TRON Legacy got a new pinball machine a few years ago.
As you can see in the video, a lot of thought went into the gameplay in order to portray the story and action as best as it can be done in a pinball machine. It's not just a collection of Goonies art and action figures glued to an old pinball machine. This is a truly magnificent piece of work (not unlike the creator's mustache). It's just a shame that we'll never get to play it.

And if that's not enough nostalgia for The Goonies, check out some pieces from the 30th anniversary art show that happened last month. And in the meantime, if you want a sequel to The Goonies, you better hope they crack the story, because otherwise it won't happen.
