'Sinister 2' Trailer: A Murdered Family, A House, And An Offering
The demon Bughuul continues to menace families in Sinister 2, which sees the return of original writers Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill and features a new director, Ciaran Foy (Citadel) after Derrickson went over to Marvel to make Doctor Strange. There's also a new cast, including Shannyn Sossamon, James Ransone, and Robert and Dartanian Sloan, playing characters caught in a nightmare of film footage and the evil it depicts. Check out the Sinister 2 trailer after the break.
This trailer makes the film look like an old-school '80s horror sequel — we know the setup, so it jumps right in to start killing people, maybe with a bit of new backstory thrown in to further develop the idea of Bughuul as a boogeyman. (I still see Slipknot's Mick Thompson when I look at the Bughuul design, but maybe that's just me.) Will that all work as a sequel? Probably — the formula has worked just fine many times before. And maybe there are some surprises here, too.
Sinister 2 opens on August 21. Trailer via Fandango.
The sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit horror movie. In the aftermath of the shocking events in "Sinister," a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of "Wayward Pines") and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Bughuul continues to spread with frightening intensity.
