Legendary Announces 'Trick 'R Treat' And 'Krampus' Graphic Novels
It's been nearly eight years since the release of Trick 'r Treat, and we're still waiting on Trick 'r Treat 2. Not only that, we're also getting impatient for Michael Dougherty's other upcoming holiday-themed horror project, Krampus. So the filmmaker is giving fans something to chew on while we wait.
The filmmaker is teaming up with Legendary Comics for two graphic novels — one tied to Trick 'r Treat, and the other tied to Krampus. After the jump, get details on the Krampus and Trick r Treat comic books, plus a first look at some promotional art.
Legendary Comics announced the two books via press release. Said Dougherty:
I've been having way too much fun working with Legendary and the rest of my team bringing the ancient legend of Krampus to the big screen, and I look forward to expanding the film's dark Christmas mythology onto the comic page. And hopefully the fans who've been patiently waiting for TRICK 'R TREAT 2 will enjoy this deeper peek into Sam's world until he finally rises from the pumpkin patch once more. Happy Holidays.
As you'd expect, the two graphic novels are timed around their respective holidays. The Trick 'r Treat comic book will sell for $16.99 starting in October. Dougherty, Zach Shields, and Todd Casey get "story by" credit and Mark Andreyko is the writer. Fiona Staples, Zid, Stuart Sayger, and Stephen Byrne did the art. Here's the synopsis:
The dark and twisted face of the cult horror hit Trick 'R Treat is back... are you ready for the return of Sam?
With the official graphic novel Trick 'r Treat, Legendary dares you to experience four all-new terrifying tales set in the universe of the ultimate Halloween anthology.
From the twisted imagination of series creator Dougherty (screenwriter of X-Men 2 and Superman Returns) and a top-notch team of horror storytellers and artists, comes this 4-part collection that paves the way for the Trick 'r Treat film sequel. Across centuries of Halloween horror, wherever fear lies, Sam will be waiting.
The Krampus comic will hit shelves in November and go for $14.99. It'll also have a story by Dougherty, Shields, and Casey, with Brandon Seifert as the writer. The artists involved are Sayger, Michael Montenat, Maan House, and Christian DiBari. Here's the synopsis for that one:
