Break Free With 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2' Teaser And Poster
It's been only four months since the last Hunger Games movie was released, and we still have eight months to go until the next (and last) one hits theaters. But Lionsgate is wasting no time amping up the excitement. The studio has revealed the first The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 teaser trailer and poster, and you can check 'em both out after the jump.
EW got the Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 teaser trailer and poster.
The first Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 teaser, above, will debut in theaters this weekend with the new installment of the Divergent series, the heir apparent to Hunger Games' box office throne. It's more of a recap of the three previous films than it is a peek at the next one. There's no new footage, just some familiar, if stirring, lines about remembering who the real enemy is and turning your weapons against the Capitol.
The first Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 poster also seems like something we've seen before, mostly because it's designed to fit with the teaser posters for the other films. It is interesting to note, though, that for the first time the bird isn't inside a ring. Presumably it's meant to symbolize Katniss breaking free of the Capitol or whatever.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 opens November 20. Francis Lawrence once again directs, with Jennifer Lawrence, Donald Sutherland, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, and Jena Malone returning to star.
With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.
