First Look: Adrianne Palicki As Mockingbird In Marvel's 'Agents Of SHIELD'
(Spoilers for last night's Agents of SHIELD episode, "A Hen in the Wolf House," ahead.)
Following her casting over the summer, Adrianne Palicki made her first appearance as Bobbi Morse on Agents of SHIELD in last night's episode. She even got to kick some serious ass in her role, beating up baddies with her signature batons.
But that was Bobbi undercover as a Hydra agent, in her Hydra uniform. It's not really the same thing as seeing Mockingbird in action. So while we wait for that glorious day, we have a first look at Palicki's Mockingbird costume. Hit the jump to see the Agents of SHIELD Mockingbird.
It lines up pretty well with the Agents of SHIELD Mockingbird concept art cooked up by costume designer Ann Foley. Well, aside from the Tyra Collette 'do below.
Foley explained how the design came about.
I looked at all of her comic appearances and really wanted to try to bring elements of the look from the comics into the costume that we're doing now for the show because I know it's important to the fans. It's important to me to keep certain elements, but we had to change it, obviously, for practicality, because it had to fit into our world. It had to have a kind of tactical feeling to it too so that it made sense in our universe.
She's got rivets that are in the straps across her chest, and those are there as a tribute to the buttons that go down the side of her [most recent] costume [in the comics], as well as the colors that we were using, [which] are a tribute as well. Her colors are navy blue and white with a little bit of black in there, [but] white would not have been pretty on camera so we changed it to grey. [We] still tried to maintain the original style of what was in the comic book because [with] that white panel that goes up her center and down her legs, [so] we've mirrored that in her costume but in gray instead of white.
Palicki's Bobbi Morse will appear in her full Mockingbird tactical suit in next week's episode "A Fractured House," airing Tuesday, October 28 at 9/8c. As if we didn't have enough reason to tune in already, what with the promised Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer release and all.
