Dave Bautista Cast As Villain In 'Bond 24'
Wrestler Dave Bautista is going from Marvel to martinis. The Guardians of the Galaxy star has reportedly been cast as a major henchman named Hinx in Sam Mendes' Bond 24. The film starts filming in December aimed at a November 6, 2015 release.
Latino Review broke the news of the Bond 24 villain casting. Bautista fits the description producers gave a few weeks back about what they were looking for in the Bond 24 villain:
We are looking to follow in the tradition of JAWS and ODDJOB in finding an iconic baddy.
Hinx (Male, 30 – 45)
Ideally over 6 foot 2 inches. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.
Bautista is 6 foot 6 inches tall and extremely hot coming off a scene stealing role in biggest movie of the year. As Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, Bautista was a physically imposing powerhouse. But what really made him memorable was the deadpan humor of the character and how well Bautista was able to handle that. Those are traits well-suited to a Bond villain.
Also, never forget that Bautista is a WWE wrestler. Much like The Rock before him, wrestlers are usually extremely charismatic and well-spoken. It's as big a part of the business as the muscles and athleticism. And we know Bond villains love to talk and talk and talk.
With Bond 24 getting ready to shoot before the end of the year, we should be hearing the title and more information very soon. News just broke last week that Léa Seydoux, best known for Blue is the Warmest Color and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, was cast as one of the film's femme fatales.
Bond 24, directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig, opens November 6, 2015.
